Two Door Cinema Club – ‘Tourist History’

  • by

Northern Ireland’s ‘Two Door Cinema Club’ have finally begun to fulfill their undeniable potential. I have been aware of the band for quite a while – they were spotted in NME magazine’s ‘New Bands’ section and then polled highly on the BBC Sound of…2010 list (Previous winners include 50 Cent, Keane and Little Boots, who beat Lady GaGa into sixth place). Having just finished one tour of America and rapidly announcing plans to return in 2011, TDCC are clearly having a positive impact here in the United States. The album, ‘Tourist History’, is uploaded onto the KOXY computers so hopefully you will be able to hear more of them soon! With a sound that merges other British bands such as Los Campesinos! and The Wombats, the album builds upon a mix of indie summer music with undertones of electronic influences that are to be expected by being signed to the Kitsune label alongside bands such as Klaxons, La Roux and Phoenix. Its an absolutly fantastic album to put on, have some beers and a barbeque and a bit of a party – stand out album tracks include ‘I Can Talk’ and ‘Do You Want It All?’ – but there is a definite lack of depth from the album. It all gets a bit samey but, seeing as the album is only 10 tracks, they get away with having a very repetitive sound. It will be interesting to see how the band develop onto their second album but, if they continue to grow at the rate that they are, any new releases will be hotly received.
